DVAG Junior Team: Current and future champions at T3

Marco Koch, world champion in 200 meters breaststroke, collected a lot of experiences during his years in high performance sports. He participated in two Olympics and collected several medals on international level. During the training camp of the DVAG Junior Team at Tenerife Top Training (T3) the breaststrokes specialist supported German young athletes in his function as DVAG Junior Team mentor.  ‘I think I can help if we practice together. If the participants have any questions, they can ask me. I hope I can give them some good advices’, said Koch.

Eight young athletes participated in training camp by DVAG Junior Team at T3 in October.

The German financial consulting supports young swimmers and accompanies them during their way to international level. In the last years the team members won multiple medals at national and international championships in their age categories already. Paul Hentschel, 19 years old swimmer from Chemnitz, won gold in 400 free at European Games 2015 Baku. In a furious final he came out of the top against the international competitors. In Tenerife he enjoyed the optimal conditions at T3. ‘The large diversity offered by the training center Tenerife Top Training, sets it apart from other locations. I can practice everything in- and outside the water. I’ve never found anything I can’t do here. Everything is possible’, said Hentschel. The athlete, who starts in open water competitions as well and won gold at junior world championships this year, was happy about the good team spirit during the days in Tenerife. ‘In the DVAG Junior Team, I found close friends. We see each other nearly every competition, and practice together during trainings camps. Small actions are connecting us and strengthening our team spirit’.

Hentschel and the other seven athletes of DVAG Junior Team used the training camp to prepare themselves for the coming competitions. Performance director Joshua Neuloh organized the camp and coached the young athletes. ‘We’re pleased to welcome Marco Koch again during the training camp of DVAG Junior Team at T3. The young athletes used the chance and had a good exchange with him. The Tenerife Top Training offers optimal conditions for our sessions. We’re happy to visit the center every year’, said Neuloh who coached several international swimmers, who collected more than 14 medals at World Championships.

Marco Koch showed the effect of practice in T3 already. After his stay in Tenerife, he participated at the last FINA Wolrd Cups and won his races over 200 meters breaststroke. The members of the DVAG Junior Team will practice and invest as much as they can to get these results as well. Certainly they’ll visit the T3 again during their way to the Olympics 2020.
