Mental Training for Sport with Dr. Jim Taylor. Free Event.
18:30 to 20:00 - 05/02/2026

Summary: Drawing on his own lifelong elite athletic experience and decades of consulting with professional, Olympic, and junior-elite athletes, Dr. Taylor will show attendees the importance of mental preparation for sports performance, regardless of their age, ability, or sport. This workshop, based on his book, Train Your Mind for Athletic Success, explains why training the mind should be the same as training the body.

It will also introduce five “mental muscles” that are essential for athletic success: motivation, confidence, intensity, focus, and mindset. Dr. Taylor will then describe the three most powerful mental tools athletes can use to get the most out of their training and to be optimally prepared for competition (mental imagery, routines, self-talk).

Attendees will leave the workshop with a new appreciation for the power of the mind in sports (and life!), and with useful information and practical tools to perform their best when it matters most.
