SUSTAINABILITY IN TENERIFE A MUST FOR EVERYONE

THE SUSTAINABLE SOLUTION FOR YOUR LIFESTYLE NEEDS

Discover Sustainability in Tenerife: At Tenerife Top Training, we have made significant improvements in energy efficiency that have transformed our complex into one of the most environmentally sustainable sports centers in the Canary Islands.

Here are some examples of the work we have done:

• Replacing existing lighting systems with low-energy lighting technologies.
• Installation of a new solar panel system.
• Implementation of water dispensers at every site.

At Tenerife Top Training, we are proud to be pioneers in promoting sustainable practices in the sports industry. We are committed to preserving the environment and constantly seeking new ways to reduce our ecological footprint.

ENVIRONMENT AND TENERIFE

Tenerife, an extraordinary and unique island, is distinguished not only by its palm trees and sandy beaches but also by its hidden secrets and rich cultural heritage. However, among all its qualities, its impressive nature stands out. As the largest island of the eight that make up the Canary archipelago.

Therefore, it is not surprising that this island covered with lush vegetation is not only a paradise for tourists but also a highly appreciated destination for sports enthusiasts. This has generated the need for sustainable sports complexes that can harmoniously integrate sports tourism into the tourism industry, which represents a challenge from an environmental point of view.

Our goal is to offer a top-quality sports space that not only satisfies the needs of athletes and sports enthusiasts but also protects and preserves the natural environment that surrounds it. We are committed to sustainability and strive to be a role model in the integration of sports tourism and respect for the environment in Tenerife

SUSTAINABILITY AND SPORTS COMPLEXES

Understanding the life cycle of a building is of significant importance, especially when it comes to sports complexes. These places, being used daily, are subject to considerable wear and tear. Since sports centers are expected to have a long lifespan, it is crucial to choose sustainable building materials that can withstand the test of time.

It is true that sustainable building materials often come at a higher cost compared to non-sustainable materials. However, at Tenerife Top Training, we understand that the long-term benefits outweigh this additional investment. Our materials are designed to be recyclable at the end of their life cycle, reducing the amount of waste sent to landfills. Additionally, the careful selection of building materials has allowed our center to not only be a high-quality sports complex but also an aesthetically pleasing and functional space.

Our goal is to offer a sports complex that is sustainable in all aspects, from its construction to its daily operation. By investing in sustainable materials, we not only protect the environment but also ensure the longevity and quality of our sports facilities. At Tenerife Top Training, we are committed to sustainability and strive to be a benchmark in the field of sustainable sports complexes, providing a top-quality space that promotes the well-being of athletes and the care of the natural environment.

WHAT WE DO

We are passionate about protecting the planet and believe in the importance of taking responsible action to preserve our natural resources and ensure a sustainable future for generations to come. Join us on this journey towards sustainability and together let’s make a difference!

To reduce the use of plastic, water dispensers have been installed around the center. Concerns about the amount of plastic already polluting the oceans, as well as concerns about the toxicity of single-use plastic bottles, are the reasons why we have abandoned single-use plastic water bottles and started promoting the use of reusable stainless steel water bottles.

Since 2018, solar panels have been used to heat our 50m and 25m Olympic swimming pool. Solar panels use the most sustainable resource on the planet, sunlight, to convert solar energy into electrical energy. Considering that solar radiation in the south of Tenerife is strong all year round, our panels take advantage of the optimal conditions for a thermal solar heating system.

Our natural grass fields are not only aesthetically pleasing but also environmentally friendly as they provide numerous benefits. One of the most significant advantages of using natural grass is that it is the most carbon-friendly option, as grass plays a vital role in carbon sequestration, which removes carbon from the atmosphere and stores it in the soil. For instance, a football field with a size of approximately 10,000 m2 or 1 ha can capture and fix an average of 12 t of CO2 annually.

T3 has been designed with the aim of providing a consistent airflow with comfortable temperatures throughout the building, while minimizing the use of mechanical air conditioning. The building’s location on a hill allows for natural ventilation, which is a sustainable and cost-effective method of providing fresh air to occupants. The primary objective is to leverage the outdoor climate to provide low humidity, moderate temperature, and continuous wind currents, which can serve as a backup cooling source for the building, enabling air to circulate throughout the premises.

Illumination is a significant energy consumer, but cognitive lighting that combines intelligence, sensors, and efficient energy sources can reduce lighting energy consumption. The design team followed a strategy that relied heavily on natural light, supplemented with LED lighting. Our latest lighting control upgrade was the installation of motion sensor lights around the center, eliminating the possibility of lights being left accidentally on.

Sports emerge as a valuable tool for promoting social cohesion, transcending differences in origin and bringing individuals from diverse contexts together around a common or multiple objectives. In parallel, climate change presents itself as a global problem that demands our joint collaboration to find effective solutions.

The unsustainable depletion of resources is the main cause of environmental degradation, leading to an increase in our production of goods. Much of the world’s economic growth has been sustained by the excessive exploitation of resources such as fossil fuels. However, as the planet’s resources become increasingly scarce, the limitations to growth become more evident. With the aim of safeguarding our own well-being and that of future generations, we strive to discover ways to thrive on our planet through the sustainable use of its resources, avoiding causing irreparable damage to the environment.
