Minimum level required for participation:
The minimum requirement is that the swimmer completes 50 m of each stroke with smooth technique (butterfly, breaststroke, freestyle, and backstroke), in addition to being able to swim 300 m continuously without stopping and to complete at least 100 m in individual medley.
Based on this evaluation, groups will be formed.
General Objectives of the Camp
- Improve the swimmers’ physical and technical abilities.
- Teach the fundamentals of technical work from both a theoretical and practical perspective.
- Conduct physiological and cardiovascular assessments to gather data for the upcoming season.
The camp location is the Tenerife Top Training sports center.
Designed for children and adolescents aged 10 to 17 who already have a solid swimming foundation, train regularly, compete or are preparing to start competing, and want to further develop their technique and overall swimming skills.
A unique swimming training environment in Spain and Europe, combining high-performance facilities, technical coaching, video analysis, hydrodynamic flume sessions and practical learning to help swimmers better understand and develop their technique.
All participants will have the opportunity to experience the hydrodynamic flume, where they can swim one or more strokes against an adjustable water current. Each swimmer will receive individual technical observation, personalized verbal feedback on the main aspects identified, and a video recording of the session.
Each participant will receive written guidance highlighting the main areas for improvement across all four strokes, based on the observations and feedback provided throughout the camp. View an example of the personal evaluation form.
The swimming camp combines technical learning and practical training, covering the four strokes as well as starts, turns, underwater phases, body control and swim-specific physical preparation. Sessions may also include video analysis, work in the hydrodynamic flume and dryland training, helping swimmers better understand their technique and apply what they learn directly in the water.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ABOUT SWIMMING CAMP
CAMP OVERVIEW & METHODOLOGY
Who can participate in the camp?
The camp is open to swimmers aged 10–17 who are already competing, planning to compete next season, or who have basic knowledge of at least three strokes.
What is the main focus of the Summer Swimming Camp? Is it suitable for beginners?
No. The Summer Swimming Camp is not a beginner swimming course. It is designed for young swimmers who are already confident and independent in the water and have a sufficient technical foundation to participate in structured training sessions.
What methodology is used during the Summer Swimming Camp?
The Summer Swimming Camp follows a technical, educational and practical methodology focused on helping swimmers understand and improve their technique. Training combines observation, explanation, specific practice, feedback and repetition.
The programme covers the four swimming strokes, starts, turns, underwater phases, swimming efficiency, specific strength and postural control. Depending on the programme, video analysis and sessions in the hydrodynamic flume are also included.
Does the methodology change between the Christmas, April/Easter, and summer camps?
My child is an advanced swimmer. Is the camp still suitable?
The aim is not for every swimmer to follow exactly the same programme, but to adapt the level of challenge to the needs and ability of each group.
What makes this camp different from a conventional swimming camp?
GROUPS, COACHING & LANGUAGES
How are the groups formed?
technical level + training experience + independence in the water + competitive experience + individual characteristics of the swimmer.
Two participants of the same age may therefore train in different groups if their experience, technical level, or stage of physical development is different. Groups are not divided by language.
The content for each group is delivered in both Spanish and English. Rather than separating participants by language, both languages are naturally integrated into the sessions.
This creates a richer overall experience, as swimmers not only develop their sporting skills but also interact with each other in different languages throughout the camp. It gives them a natural opportunity to practise and strengthen their confidence in languages other than their own.
Once the groups are formed, do they stay with the same coach throughout the camp, or do they rotate between different coaches?
This system has several advantages:
swimmers receive feedback from different coaches;
it avoids relying on the perspective of a single coach for the entire assessment;
it allows coaches to focus on areas in which they have particular expertise;
it makes it easier to compare observations and agree on the main areas each swimmer should work on;
it helps maintain smaller groups during activities that require more individual attention.
Although swimmers may work with different coaches, the coaching team agrees in advance on the observation criteria and the objectives of the camp, ensuring a consistent methodological approach throughout the programme.
What does a typical day at the camp look like?
A typical day may combine several different blocks, such as technical explanations, pool training, specific drills, strength or body control work, video analysis, sessions in the hydrodynamic flume, and feedback.
Alternating between different activities helps keep participants engaged and, above all, allows them to connect what they learn outside the water with how they apply it later in the pool.
Do swimmers receive feedback during the camp?
One of the aims of the camp is to progressively encourage young swimmers to observe, understand, and evaluate their own technique, which is also an important part of the learning process.
What does the basic feedback include?
What does the advanced report include?
The advanced report is available at an additional cost and provides a much more in-depth individual analysis of one selected stroke.
It may include:
- a structured technical assessment;
- identification of strengths and main limitations;
- qualitative analysis of different phases of the stroke cycle;
- quantitative parameters where applicable;
- observations from the coaches;
- training priorities;
- suggested exercises;
- recommendations for continuing to develop the selected technique after the camp.
Do all swimmers follow exactly the same training programme?
What happens if my child particularly excels in a specific activity?
Does the camp focus only on the technique of the four strokes?
Are videos used during the camp?
Does the camp replace the swimmer’s regular coach?
All of this information is shared through an individual link and includes the content from the theoretical sessions, the videos recorded during the camp, and the individual reports with recommendations for further work.
What if my child doesn't speak either Spanish or English?
In that case, it would be difficult for them to participate in the camp. If they can’t understand what the counselors are saying and can’t communicate with the other children, they won’t be able to enjoy the camp. We recommend that children only participate if they have at least an intermediate level in English or Spanish.
TRAINING & FACILITIES
What facilities will participants use?
Olympic-size heated pools (25m & 50m), the hydrodynamic flume channel, access to professional equipment and an underwater camera.
How are the hydrodynamic flume sessions carried out?
The swimmer swims against an adjustable water current, allowing the coaches to observe their technique for longer periods and from different perspectives without the need to continuously swim lengths of the pool.
During the session, video recordings may be used to analyse aspects such as body position, stroke path, coordination, breathing, and technical efficiency.
At the end of the session, once the main observations have been reviewed, the swimmer receives feedback on the key technical points identified and keeps audiovisual material from the experience.
Are the sessions only in the pool?
No, there are also theoretical sessions, compensatory/complementary work, and strength/conditioning specifically designed for swimmers.
PRACTICAL INFORMATION
Are meals included?
No, meals are not provided. Participants should bring their own snacks/water if needed.
What should swimmers bring to the camp?
In addition, we recommend:
two swimsuits, if possible;
spare goggles;
a spare swim cap;
flip-flops;
a reusable water bottle;
sunscreen;
a small backpack for moving between facilities.
Any other equipment required for the activities will be provided by the facility.
