Youth Physical Development Program (Ages 12-16): Maximizing Growth & Athletic Potential

Our Youth Physical Development program is based on the Long-Term Athlete Development (LTAD) model, which emphasizes the importance of taking advantage of critical windows of opportunity during the growth stage. In these phases, young athletes are more receptive to certain physical adaptations, and proper training not only optimizes performance but also reduces the risk of injuries and maximizes future athletic potential..

What does the program consist of?

The training is designed to develop various essential physical abilities through the Youth Physical Development Model, which includes:

Strength (3 zones):
Neuromuscular
Power
Speed

Mobility (improving range of motion)

Movement skills:
Basic (fundamental for any sport)
Sport-specific (depending on the discipline)

Agility:
Cognitive (decision-making and reaction).

Biomechanical/Neuromuscular (change of direction – CODs)

TOMÁS BARREDA

 

Tomás Hernández Barreda is a native of Tenerife. He practiced competitive swimming and water polo until the age of 18, when he began coaching various swimming teams, combining this with work in different gyms across the island.

Currently, he trains athletes in multiple disciplines, a role he combines with working as a speaker at various talks and courses at Tenerife Top Training.

His interests include sports, travel, and continuing education.

 

 

Héctor Oda

Strength and Conditioning Coach and Rehabilitation Specialist

Héctor Oda is a native of Tenerife. At the age of 23, he graduated in Physical Activity and Sports Sciences from the Polytechnic University of Madrid, completing his education with a Master’s Degree in High Performance in Team Sports from INEF Barcelona and a Master’s Degree in Secondary Education Teaching in Physical Education from the University of La Laguna. He has also completed additional training as a Personal Trainer in the fields of health, sports performance optimization, and injury rehabilitation, accumulating 6 years of experience in this area. He has worked as a strength and conditioning coach in youth academies such as Club Atlético de Madrid, Club Deportivo Leganés, and currently holds this position with the Juvenil A team of Club Deportivo Tenerife, which competes in the División de Honor Juvenil League.

how to join? 

To get started with the groups, you can begin with a free class with no commitment. To do this, simply fill out the form below, and we will contact you to schedule a time for you to come. After that, you can decide if you’d like to continue and also choose the number of classes you’d like to attend. The payment is not a monthly fee but a pass for the number of classes you can use over the course of 3 months. This gives you full flexibility to choose whether you’d like one class per week, three classes per week, or more, or even one class every two weeks, always considering that it’s subject to availability.

In case you meet the age requirements, you can proceed. If you are one year younger or one year older, please contact us, and we will check with the coach if you can participate.
